Artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere nowadays, and it’s making people worry about their jobs because technology keeps advancing. Now, things might get even more unsettling because there’s a new AI that could replace software engineers.
Meet Cognition, a new AI company in the United States. They say they’ve created the best AI software engineer in the world, named Devin. This special AI can do amazing things like writing code, fixing problems in the code, and making websites and videos that look really professional.
Cognition says Devin has aced real job interviews and has even done real tasks without any help. They say Devin is like its own little computer, able to do engineering work using its own tools and the internet. Surprisingly, Devin can solve almost 14% of issues on GitHub without any human assistance, which is better than other AIs out there.
Tech folks are understandably worried about how fast AI is growing. A lot of them are concerned about their jobs, especially now that there’s an AI like Devin around. Big companies like Google are using more AI and sometimes even cutting jobs, so hearing about Devin just makes people in tech even more nervous.
But it’s not just about job security. There’s also the question of how this new technology will change the way we work. Models like Devin can do tasks that usually take years to learn in college and on the job. That could mean big changes for the tech industry, and maybe even for other fields too.
